Bueno, veo que muchas personas buscan hacer funcionar su modem en Linux, yo tengo un Conexant HDAudio Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP en mi laptop nx6325 que es un modem HSF (winmodem) y es asi como la hice funcionar:
Descarga:
Driver: Entra a http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads.php en la parte de “Generic packages with source” descarga el archivo TAR.
Parche: Es la primera vez que usa un “Crack” en Linux: Descargalo
Instalando:
Descomprime el tar:
#tar -xzf hsfmodem-*.tar.gz
Entra en la carpeta que se creo e instala:
#cd hsf*
#make install
Ahora aplicamos el parche, copia el parche a donde tienes instalado el modem:
#cp hsfpatch /usr/lib/hsfmodem
#cd /usr/lib/hsfmodem
#./hsfpatch
Al final te saldrá una dirección de e-mail y una clave, anotalos. Ahora verifica que tienes instalados los kernel-headers de tu kernel en sigue con la configuración:
#/usr/sbin/hsfconfig
Creará el módulo para tu modem, ahora vamos a quitarle la restricción:
#/usr/sbin/hsfconfig -l
Cuando te lo pida ingresa el mail y la clave que anotaste antes. Ahora basta con configurar wvdial, mi archivo wvdial.conf dice:
[Dialer Defaults]
Init = ATZ
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = AT&FW3+MS=V90,1,28800,33600,28800,56000
Modem Type = Analog Modem
ISDN = 0
Phone = 55555555
New PPPD = yes
Modem = /dev/modem
Username = miusuario
Password = mipassword
Baud = 460800
Check Carrier = 0
Obvio, pon el teléfono y los datos de usuario correctos, ahora deberías poder conectarte usando wvdial, el configurador de red de Gnome o algún otro Front-End.

hola me descargue hace poko el puppy linux pero resulta ke no me puedo konectar a internet, tengo un acer aspire 5102 yel mismo modem ke tu. E estado mirando el articulo y me parece ke lo voy a probar. El problema es ke no tengo ni idea de linux y me gustaria ke me digeses lo ke tengo ke acer para descomprimir, instalar, y todo lo demas. Gracias!

Si todo debes hacerlo desde una consola o terminal, como quieras llamarle, básicamente es copiar, pegar y ejecutar los comandos en la consola, aventurate a intentarlo.

Hi, the link in the post don’t work anymore, sorry. Gentoo Wiki has a nice post about this modem and it’s a good for reference for all distributions (Only ignore commands like “emerge” you most use YAST). I don’t use this modem a lot but I have a ebuild (works in gentoo) with a free full version of the driver and a patch for gentoo (You don’t need that patch only the driver sources). The ebuild says this:

If you read Gentoo Wiki you can find others options: a package deb and perhaps you can use alien for get a package rpm.

Hola, que tal, tu ejemplo es muy practico para la instalacion de los que tenemos este tipo de modem, oyes, tengo una pregunta, tengo instalado ubuntu 9.04, y una vez intente instalarlo pero perdi el sonido, ¿tu crees que hice algo mal?, ¿estos mismos pasos se utilizan para ubuntu 9.04?. Ojala puedas contestarme. De antemano gracias

Hay un controlador OEM de Dell que puedes descargar y pueden servirte para tu instalación de Ubuntu. El parche que menciono en el artículo ya no esta disponible, así que usa el paquete deb de Dell, la instalación debe ser muy similar. Lee con detenimiento los mensajes de instalación, pues el driver del módem sobreescribe módulos de audio (no recuerdo cuales), por lo que tendrás que cargar manualmente los nuevos módulos que te indique el instalador.
